How often should you cut your grass?  This guide is based on whether your lawn mower has three height cutting settings:

March:

End of March cut on highest cutting height of lawnmower on dry grass.

April:

Every 2 weeks on highest cutting height of lawnmower.

May and June:

Slightly lower the cutting height setting and cut every 10 days.

July and August:

Lower the cutting height, cut every 2 weeks.

If weather very hot, raise the mowing height and cut when it needs it.

if weather is wet, slightly lower the cutting height setting and cut every 10 days.

September:

Cutting height same as July and August (every 2 weeks).  If your lawn get full of moss, raise cutting height.

October:

Raise cutting height and cut every 2-3 weeks.

November:

Same as October.

Throughout the winter:

Do not use your lawnmower on frosty grass.  Keep it tidy by giving it a cut when the lawn is as dry as possible.
